Nigeen Lake:

Nigeen Lake, also spelled as Nageen Lake, is a mildly eutrophic lake situated in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. Often considered an extension of Dal Lake, Nigeen Lake is connected to it via a narrow strait and is also linked to Khushal Sar and Gil Sar lakes through a channel known as Nallah Amir Khan.

Surrounded by lush willow and poplar trees, Nigeen Lake has earned the nickname "nageena," which means “the jewel in the ring.” This title reflects its serene beauty and the picturesque landscapes that frame the water body. The local variant “nigeen” further captures the lake’s charm and significance in Kashmiri culture.

निगीन झील, जिसे नगीना झील भी कहा जाता है, श्रीनगर, जम्मू और कश्मीर, भारत में स्थित एक हल्के यूरोट्रोफिक झील है। इसे कभी-कभी डल झील का हिस्सा माना जाता है और यह एक संकीर्ण जलमार्ग के माध्यम से इसके साथ जुड़ी हुई है। यह खुषाल सर और गिल सर झीलों से नल्ला अमीर खान नामक एक चैनल के माध्यम से भी जुड़ी हुई है।

निगीन झील को चारों ओर से चिलगोज़ा और पॉपलर के पेड़ों ने घेर रखा है, इसलिए इसे "नगीना" कहा जाता है, जिसका अर्थ है "रिंग में गहना"। "निगीन" शब्द उसी शब्द का एक स्थानीय रूपांतर है।

यह झील हरी पर्वत के पश्चिम में स्थित है और इसके उत्तर-पूर्व में हज़रतबल क्षेत्र है, जो प्रसिद्ध दरगाह के लिए जाना जाता है।

निगीन झील श्रीनगर में एक प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थल है, जो डल झील की तुलना में इसके अपेक्षाकृत स्वच्छ जल के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। यहाँ हाउसबोट और शिकारे आम दृश्य हैं। इसकी गहराई और कम भीड़भाड़ के कारण यहाँ तैराकी के लिए भी उपयुक्त है, जिससे आगंतुक एक शांतिपूर्ण वातावरण में ताजगी का आनंद ले सकते हैं।
