Bahu Fort, Baugh-e-Bahu and Maha kali and Maha maya Temple:-
Located in the
city of Jammu, the Bahu
Fort is said to have been built by Raja Bhau lochan on the
banks of River Tawi. Bahu
Fort is famous sightseeing attraction of Jammu city; it was built by Raja Bahu
lochan over 3,000 years ago. The fort was later restored during the 19th
century by the Dogra rulers. Other notable attractions of the fort include Bhave
wali mata Temple, an ancient shrine dedicated to Goddess Kali. Outside the
premises of this fort there is another temple of kali-Maha Maya temple.
The fort stands on a Hill overlooking River Tawi with the surroundings developed into a well laid garden Baugh-e-Bahu on the lines of the Mughal Gardens from where tourists can have a bird’s eye view of Jammu city.
The fort has undergone significant restorations, particularly during the 19th century under the Dogra rulers, who enhanced its structure while preserving its historical essence. Visitors to Bahu Fort can explore its impressive architecture, which showcases ancient Indian military design and engineering.
